Why Suppliment? And If So, With What?
You’ve probably heard that eating an apple today doesn’t have the same nutrient value as an apple did 50 years ago. And that’s true, it’s been proven by scientific research. Why is that? Well, today we have industrialized our food supply to maximize volume, not necessarily quality. The small family farm that puts a lot [...]

Her Sister’s Kidney Transplant Surgery
My sisters’ surgery…. Nov. 1, 2011
The recent transplant surgery of my sisters (see below) showed that nutrition, eating a good diet mostly vegetables with supplements of micronutrients – vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals and soy protein contributed to their rapid recovery. This fact is truer for Riina who donated her kidney to Carol. If Riina was not taking care of her health, would she be able to “save” Carol’s life? I was worried for both of them. Riina had some health issues years ago – endometriosis and thyroid problems. She addressed it with nutrition using Shaklee food supplements. Her health problems were resolved without medical intervention. She and her husband keep up with their food supplement regimen. ~ Perla
Last Oct. 3 my sister, Riina, donated her kidney to our sister, Carol, in Australia. Carol’s kidney shut down and she has been on dialysis for more than two years every day. They are both in their 50’s, Riina is a year and half younger than Carol. Before the surgery, in one of their doctor consultation, the surgeon asked Riina if she is on any medication and Riina said, “No, I am not on any medication but I take a lot of vitamins.” The doctor said, “You do not need to take vitamins”; perhaps the doctor said this because all the blood markers and other medical markers of Riina are all normal. In hindsight: I do not think Riina’s bio-markers would be normal without food supplementation on top of a good diet
Before, during, and after surgery, Riina’s blood pressure was 119 over 76. After the surgery the nurses and doctors keep asking her if she is in pain and Riina said no. The nurses could not believe that she is not in pain and they prevailed upon her to use the drip of morphine. Riina did it and her blood pressure immediately shot up and she did not like the irritating feel of the morphine as it courses through her vein. That was the first and last time she had the pain killer. All the nurses told Riina that she is a brave woman because she did not need any pain killer but most of all for donating her kidney to her sister. As she was leaving the hospital after three days she remarked to her doctor that she will start her vitamin regimen. This time the doctor said, “Yes, you can do that.” A few days after she went home Riina called me that she is healing fast. I suggested to her to double her zinc, vitamin C and E intake as these are healing nutrients on top of the other vitamins, minerals, soy protein and Physique for fast recovery. Also to up her B Complex as her body underwent trauma, a huge stress to the adrenal glands and to address her digestive health with Optiflora.
Carol had to stay longer in the hospital. Carol who did not believe in taking food supplements and much less in eating healthy was asking to bring her vitamins and minerals in the hospital. She saw how healthy Riina was that she was recovering so fast. Unbeknown to me Riina and her husband have been on a vegetarian diet. So when she arrived in Australia months before the scheduled surgery, as required by the Australian Medical Board, she told Carol that she does not eat meat anymore. I am sure this was another contributing factor plus lots of prayers for a successful surgery. Her body was not acidic and so she healed fast and did not experience any pain. At least it also helped Carol a bit to move her body towards a balance acid-alkaline state.
Carol’s creatine before the surgery was 900. After the surgery her creatine went down to 90. The fact that both of them are compatible on all six markers and most of all the prayers from friends and family helped in the success of the transplant.
Carol is placing a huge order for Shaklee food supplements.
Maximized micronutrients for total wellness:
Though Riina’s diet is healthy, the amount of nutrients, especially, micronutrients – vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals may be enough for survival function ONLY. For most American their eating habits are “the biggest cause of disease, disabilities and death in the U.S. today.” To help the body to do the repairing, rebuilding and restoring function for long healthy life we need extra micronutrients. Food supplementation is imperative for quality life as the nutrients in the food may be enough ONLY to support the short-term survival and reproductive function. This fact is reflected in the health status of Americans as they get older. The toxic environment and the added chemicals in our food, water, and drugs, chemicals that our body did not evolved with taxes the body of its stored nutrients, especially the anti-oxidants.
“Old age is like a bank account, we withdraw in later life what we deposited along the way.” So let us make a healthy deposit of quality foods and supplement.
Thanks for all your prayers.

A miraculous journey of healing and surviving cancer.
MY JOURNEY WITH BREAST CANCER:
DIAGNOSIS, TREATMENT AND THRIVING
My name is Polly Mitteer, I am a 75-year-young, double cancer survivor, and I want to share my story with the intent of offering hope and encouragement to others facing the challenge of cancer.
My journey began in January of 1995 when a routine mammogram became not-so-routine by revealing changes in my left breast. Follow-up ultrasound showed a suspicious spot. Surgical biopsies were positive for hormone negative breast cancer. I had a lumpectomy and axillary node resection. The surgeon got clear margins with the lumpectomy, but there was involvement in one lymph node. Next, I had a series of six chemotherapy treatments followed by four treatments in a chemo drug study. Then I had seven weeks of daily radiation.
By December of 1995 I was finished with all treatments just in time to celebrate my 60th birthday. And boy did I celebrate! I promised I would never complain about another birthday but would embrace every single one with gratitude! It had been a long, hard year. I was sick most of the time. I lost my hair. I lost my appetite. I lost energy and sometimes hope. Following each chemo treatment my blood counts dipped dangerously low, so that I had to have daily Neupogin shots, which I came to dread. I was hospitalized for pneumonia, but I survived. I celebrated, and I put that difficult year behind me and became a cancer survivor.
Fast forward to January of 2011. » Read more..

Periodic fasts, hot baths, steams and saunas all help to cleanse the body of toxins. Herbs, supplements and a benign diet are equally important. Periodic fasts, hot baths, steams and saunas all help to cleanse the body of toxins.
Our world is a toxic jungle. Most cities now steep in a plethora of poisons – exhaust fumes, dioxins, heavy metals, industrial solvents, volatile substances and other chemical compounds percolate in the surrounding air, soil and water. Plus, much of the food supply contains dyes, preservatives, pesticide residue, nitrates, hydrogenated oils and other agents known to have carcinogenic potential. Then there are the many items in our homes and workplaces that contain toxic substances that can induce acute headaches, malaise and respiratory distress in some, and unknown long-term consequences for the rest of us.
Even the most dedicated among us who eat only organic, unprocessed foods and abstain from unhealthy lifestyles cannot entirely avoid environmental toxins. This toxic onslaught is a burden on everybody, but particularly on those individuals with a liver, gallbladder, pancreatic or bowel disease, because these organs clear toxins from the blood. People with poor diets face double the risk because they typically consume an increased amount of toxic substances and an insufficient amount of nutrients for liver and tissue detoxification.
Frequent headaches, PMS, joint pain, fatigue, skin eruptions, digestive symptoms, halitosis (bad breath), recurrent infections and immune deficiency may indicate a need for detoxification.
Take a look at these natural and herbal formulas that will help you in your detox program.

Harry’s Cancer Story
MY CANCER TESTIMONIAL
BY HARRY STORMS
June 15, 2011
On this date, October, 15, 2010, I was experiencing some severe back pain after several days of eating mostly BBQ meat that was left over from a weekend neighborhood BBQ. I could not go to the bathroom for about 3 days and was suffering from a lot of pain. I ended up in the ER at the hospital where upon the doctor prescribed some medication to relieve the immediate problem. He also asked me about the last time I had a prostate exam. Some initial exams & blood tests were conducted and he told me that I may have prostate cancer and would schedule me for further testing for cancer.
After meeting with, and enduring a very painful biopsy by an Urologist, it was confirmed that I did in fact have prostate cancer. My PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen), used to measure the health of the male prostate, should have been below 4 to be considered healthy. My PSA was 160, which the Urologist immediately placed me in a Stage Four Cancer category.
The Urologist asked me how my relationship was with our Heavenly Father, because, “Based on his experience and historically speaking”, I would not live more than 2½ to 3 years. I told him that I had a lot of faith in our Heavenly Father and that I sincerely believed that God would walk with me through a cure or to the grave. Either way, I believed that I would win over cancer because of my Faith and Trust in Him! He said, “Good, because you have a monster growing inside of you and you’re going to need all of the help you could get!”
Upon meeting with an Oncologist, he explained that during the next 15 to 30 months they would be able to get my PSA down and get my cancer under control through some monthly injections and shots. But, then my cancer would spread and I would have to undergo some Chemo and Radiation treatments. He said that the cancer would end my life within the three years.
The Oncologist suggested that I participate in a new, “Experimental Program” whereby Radiation and Chemo therapy would begin immediately to “Get the Jump” on the cancer. I politely told him that I wanted to wait on that pending further investigation on my part.
I called my longtime friends, Mike and Marty and told them what I had found out. Marty is a cancer survivor herself. They met with me and my family in my home and lovingly told me that first I would need to adopt a Vegan lifestyle! What the heck is a “Vegan” and what were they thinking? Who in their right mind would give up a “wonderful life” of eating Hamburgers, Fried Chicken, Pizza, Ice cream, not to mention Sodas, and eat ONLY Veggies every day? Hey, kill me already! Why didn’t they just point the gun directly at me and pull the trigger??? I was raised as a meat and potatoes kinda guy! And now they’re expecting to make these radical changes in my lifestyle. Well anyway I did just that!
They also told me something that would really change my life! They told me about Shaklee, and the lifesaving supplements such as: Vivix, Nutriferon, Vitalizer, Vitamin D, and Pain Relief Complex (this really helped me get free of prescription drugs for pain).
I also joined a health club and began rigorous training with the treadmill, elliptical, and one more I call “Big Yellow.” That one really gives you a workout!
By December 2010, my PSA had dropped to 35. By March 2011, my PSA had dropped to .043 and I was downgraded to being in remission! All of these improvements because I changed my life through Christ Jesus, through adopting a Vegan lifestyle, through exercise, and through the wonderful and life-changing supplements of Shaklee! And listen to this, my Oncologist said that I was healthier than ALL of his cancer patients! How cool is that! Thank You Lord!
Currently, June 2011, my PSA is still below the level of 2. I was told that this is very good considering what I have been doing. I have NOT had any Chemotherapy nor Radiation treatments of any sort! Funny thing is that my Oncologist is still trying to encouraging me to take these treatments! What a guy!
My story is one of many people who wanted to make a permanent change in their lives. I sincerely believe that the Shaklee products and receiving the tremendous support from my “Shaklee Family” has given me new hope, new direction, and the willingness to share my story with others so that they may have an opportunity to fight their particular illnesses. Clorox vs Nature Bright
A little while ago, Sarah decided to learn a little about Clorox Bleach and Shaklee’s Nature Bright Laundry Booster. Take a look at what she learned.
Recently I decided to learn more about what was put in Clorox and what was in Nature Bright. I was shocked at the results of that little Sunday afternoon study. I went to where else but www.clorox.com and the encyclopedia for my information. Here are some of the things I found out that may shock you as they did me.1. Clorox is made up of 3 main ingredients: chlorine, sodium hydroxide (caustic soda), and water. Once blended they form sodium hypochlorite, the active ingredient in Clorox.
2. Chlorine is a greenish-yellow gaseous element. The gas has an erupting odor and in large concentration is dangerous: it was the first substance used as a poison in World War I. Chlorine and hydrogen can be kept in the dark together, but reacts explosively in the presence of light. Chlorine solutions in water are familiar in the home as bleaching agents.
3. Sodium Hydroxide or caustic acid is a chemical that can destroy or severely damage the flesh on contact. Wow! We use this in our homes! Now, lets talk about how Clorox is manufactured.
a. Chlorine is delivered to the facility in 90-ton rail cars. The cars are moved into a safe enclosure made of steel and concrete and the doors are closed to seal them off from the environment. Only one car at a time is hooked up to the piping leading into the process room. If a lead occurs electronic sensors shut down the flow of the chlorine without the need for human intervention. (By the way, Clorox has been produced since 1916. They report no “EPA-reportable” release of chlorine since 1983. Makes you wonder, doesn’t it.)
b. From the rail cars the chlorine is piped to a process tank where it is mixed with water and the sodium hydroxide then it is checked for ”impurities” before it is bottled for household use.
c. Remember the WARNING LABEL. Now you know why Clorox strongly warns against misuse of this product. The formation of chlorine gas can occur if sodium hypochlorite bleach is mixed with acids, such as acidic toilet bowl cleaners.
Now, I said all of that so you would see just how safe NATURE BRIGHT is.
All the ingredients in Nature Bright are organic and very safe.
1. Sodium carbonate is a white powder with strong alkaline properties; it occurs in nature dissolved in the waters of inland lakes called soda lakes. It is mainly used for washing soda. It was originally prepared from the ashes of seaweed and was called soda ash. This product is also used as a water softener.
2. Sodium percarbonate is a source of active oxygen.
3. Organic enzymes are used for stain removal, color protection, and fabric brighteners.
I must confess I didn’t have time to research 2 and 3 but remember my investigation was of Clorox. When time permits I will search further into sodium percarbonate and organic enzymes. I found these things very shocking and I cringe when I think about all the Clorox I have used over the years and how it may have affected my family.
Since using the Nature Bright I can assure you that it does everything you thought you had to have Clorox to do. Once again I will never have to walk that isle at Walmart for household products!!
